INHERITANCE TAX

You may have concerns about Inheritance Tax and you may wish to raise these concerns with Katherine Melkerts to see whether tax planning is advisable and what steps you could take to minimise it.

During the 2009/2010 tax year the Inheritance Tax threshold for each individual is £325,000.

However it is possible to claim any unused allowance of your spouse if they have died before you in certain circumstances, potentially giving a ‘free estate’ of up to £650,000 in the current tax year.

We are pleased to advise you upon the steps to be taken and documentation to be preserved and retained for H M Revenue in case such a claim becomes necessary in the future.
